XIRCA-V4 (co-processing)

Xirca-V4 is an acceleration platform for co-processing and prototyping based on FPGA devices. It is especially designed for high-performance applications such as vision, robotics, IP-core testing, etc.

Basic Features

  • VIRTEX4 FPGA (XCV4FX60-10FFG1152).
  • 4 SRAM modules of 72Mbit (2M x 36).
  • 2 Ethernet Transceivers (10/100/1000Mbits).
  • 2 DDR modules of 512Mb.
  • 2 Flash memories of 32MB.
  • PCIe 1x.
  • PLD (for Local Bus arbitration).
  • 4Kb I2C EEPROM.
  • Oscillators at 125MHz, 66MHz and 50MHz.
  • General-purpose LEDs and buttons.
  • 2 Rocket IO transceivers (SMA).
  • JTAG configuration port.
  • 20 general-purpose pins for expansion.
  • LCD (2 lines of 8 characters).
  • Speaker.

Functional description

This platform includes SSRAM (ZBT) for instance for high-performance image processing tasks, DDR memory (for large amounts of data), PCI Express interface, Gigabit Ethernet connectors, general-purpose pins, etc. Furthermore, it supports last generation FPGA devices (Xilinx Virtex 4). Due to the technical complexity of the board, it uses 12 layers for the components interconnections. It allows a fine adjustment of diverse clocks (some of them running at GigaHertzs).
